In this work, the historical slice of the formation of gender legal equality at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth century is realized. Special attention is paid to the key stages of the development of the idea of gender equality and the strengthening of the rights of women in Russia. Revealed and described the relationship between the processes occurring at the turn of the century in educational and artistic policy and the development of creative equality of the sexes; a comparative analysis of the features of this aspect in Russia and the German Empire was carried out.
The role of women in art is considered in more detail. Concrete historical examples of discrimination against women working in the field of art are given, and various points of view on the problem of domestic and foreign specialists are reviewed and summarized.
