«Soviet» and «anti-Soviet» in the self-consciousness and behavioral practices of nonconformists of the 1960–70s

The article explores the specifics of the «Soviet» component of self-consciousness of nonconformists of the 1960-70s. The material is the texts of the protective letters of the petition campaigns on the «deeds» of I. Brodsky, A. Sinyavsky and Yu. Daniel and the autobiography of V. Bukovsky «And the wind returns ...». The author argues that in the consciousness of the «sixties» the concepts of «Russian» in the meaning of «cultural traditions of the intelligentsia of the 19th century» and «Soviet» were not opposed to each other. Self-identification and behavioral practice corresponded to Soviet normativity. In the understanding of human rights defenders, a negative interpretation of the concept of «Soviet» was established, but their identity was in line with the Soviet cultural and anthropological type, despite the anti-Soviet declarations.
