Viability as the adaptive ability of modern youth in South Ossetia

The article presents the results of a survey on the questionnaire "Adaptation indicators of youth viability of young people in South Ossetia" compiled by a group of authors. The survey involved 130 people aged 17-23 years. All respondents of Ossetian nationality; 47 of them are boys, 83 are girls. The results of the study reveal the strength of viability in significant socio-psychological relations between youth and the environment and the current characteristics of the viability of South Ossetian youth. These characteristic qualities require priority organization of socio-psychological and pedagogical support. A normal level of vitality is demonstrated by 29% of respondents; 68% of young people demonstrate low and medium viability. The unsatisfactory level of viability was shown by 3% of respondents. The most pronounced effect on the vitality of young people is exerted by attitudes towards their family (66%), upbringing, older people (ethnic elders) (40%), self-criticism (36%), others and ability to empathize (30 %), to public activity (29%). Socio-psychological reasons for the low viability of South Ossetian youth are related to the lack of labor motivation and orientation towards socially useful activities (8%), lack of interest and the need for participation in public life (7%); with a negative attitude towards his smog (3%), with the manifestation of cruelty and aggressiveness towards others (3%).
