The dynamics of risk attitudes and riskiness of military university cadets at different stages of military socialization

The article reveals the essence of the concept of “risk”, shows the formation of various risk indicators and risk attitudes among cadets of a military university in the process of socialization, its ambiguity in connection with an interdisciplinary situation. The analysis of foreign and Russian theoretical works on the topic of risk. The basic ideas and approaches to the interpretation of this term are studied. The results of an empirical study of risk and risk behavior indicators of cadets of the Saratov Military Order of Zhukov of the Red Banner Institute of the National Guard of the Russian Federation are presented. The sample was 274 male cadets. The focus of the study is focused on the study of the following risk indicators: rational decision-making factor, decision-making factor related to risk appetite, reasonable risk, justifiable risk, situational risk in everyday life, situational risk in extreme conditions (in the interests of military service). The results of an empirical study showed that the formation of various indicators of risk preparedness and risk attitudes among students is non-linear and heterochronous. Thus, strong opposing changes in risk appetite are accompanied by weaker changes in preparedness for reasonable and justifiable risk, and situational risk in everyday life has much stronger dynamics than in the service situation. These data testify in favor of the complex process of formation of cadets' attitude to risk in the process of military socialization, which may be associated with the assimilation of standards of responsibility not only for themselves, but also for the entrusted team and duty to the country.
