Understanding and psychological content of the construct of personal maturity

This article presents the results of a study aimed at specifying the understanding and establishing the psychological content of the construct of personal maturity. The choice of the research topic due to the relevance of issues, among which for the study were the following: different understanding of the definition of «maturity», the degree of inclusion of aspects of adulthood, establishing a certain level of development of higher mental processes and the possibility of correlating age with the concept of personal maturity, allocation intrapersonal and interpersonal characteristics of personal maturity, etc. The analysis is quite extensive material in the context of the topic and specified the objectives of the study, it is determined that the aspects of personal maturity should not be seen as its integrative and differential manifestation in different aspects of life: morality, spirituality, intimacy, positivity of self and relationship to others, ability to self-development, interpersonal tolerance, separating it from the overall adaptive capacity of the individual, considering his age-related maturity criteria of adulthood.
