Youth amateur theater has long been perceived as an important personal and social impact on young people. This article describes the main results of a study of the impact of youth participation in the theater environment on their personal and social development. The presented "theory of youth amateur theater" is based on the analysis of qualitative data and the study of theoretical concepts taken from the theory of roles and the theory of performance. The term youth theater describes a wide range of organizations that involve young people in their free time to engage in theater activities. The results of the study show that youth amateur theater has a number of important functions for young people that positively influence their personal and social performance. The findings are placed in the context of a youth transition study that identified skills, abilities and resources that can help young people make a successful transition to adulthood in the current socio-economic context.
