The article provides an analysis of scientific research devoted to the consideration of the problem of perinatal loss, the specifics of a woman's emotional experiences during this period. The directions of research in the works of domestic and foreign scientists are concretized. The essence and basic patterns of trauma and perinatal loss experience are revealed. The influence of perinatal loss on the distortion of the image of a woman's physical self has been studied.
