The relationship of social intelligence, emotional intelligence and alexithymia in youth

The article discusses the role of social and emotional intelligence in the development and formation of personality. It points to insufficient study of personality traits with pronounced alexithymia in the context of social and emotional intelligence. The aim is to study the relationship between social intelligence, emotional intelligence and alexithymia in young people. Research methods: “Social Intelligence Test” by J. Guilford, “Questionnaire on emotional intelligence” by D.V. Lyusin, “Toronto scale of alexithymia” by R.M. Bagby, G.J. Taylor, L.C. Quilty, J.D.A. Parker. It was revealed that young people with a high level of alexithymia have a low level of development of emotional intelligence and a low ability to understand of verbal reactions. It is concluded that alexithymia interferes with the development of the ability to recognize both one's own and other people's emotions, intentions, and motivation.
