Modern approaches to studying the phenomenon of procrastination in foreign and Russian psychology

The article provides a theoretical analysis of the phenomenon of procrastination. Various definitions of this phenomenon in foreign and domestic psychological science are investigated. The most developed psychological approaches and directions in this area are considered. It is noted that although the main symptoms and mechanism of procrastination have been sufficiently studied in psychological science, the issues of diagnosing the cognitive nature of procrastination have not yet been resolved, methods for its prevention and correction have not been determined. An assumption is made about the relationship between the phenomenon of procrastination and intrapersonal conflict, which requires further empirical research. Perspective directions of scientific analysis of this phenomenon are highlighted.
