Orishchenko Svetlana Serafimovna  (Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, Samara State Institute of Culture)

The article is devoted to the concept of «own and others» and its reflection in cultural studies. From etymology to morphology, from syntax to phraseological units «own and others» continue to form an idea of the world in all its diversity. Science and art continue to reflect on the influence of the sign «friends and strangers», including on the art of cinema. Binary opposition forms cultural reality and penetrates into the root system of culture. The interaction of science and art gives birth to a metalanguage that clarifies cinematic utterances. The concept of «friends and strangers» for film culture is fundamental, because when opponents interact, a conflict is born in the script of the film. The logo becomes «its own» for the art of cinema, thanks to the close attention from film culture studies.

Keywords:word, sign, concept, lexeme, cultural reality, phraseology, binary opposition, antagonists, cultural core.
