Escapism – placebo of depressive disorders of modern society

The article deals with the phenomenon of escapism and its adverse effects on people with depression as a ubiquitous psychological disorder. Arguments are given in favor of the fact that there is a direct relationship between escapism and the deterioration of the patient's condition with a psychological disorder of dysthymia, which subsequently aggravates or develops into a syndrome of major depressive disorder. The results of social surveys confirming the existence of such a relationship are given. The article discusses the psychological and biological factors that contribute to the development and aggravation of depressive episodes against the background of growing escapism in the human mind.
