The article analyzes the transformational processes of family values in the history of Russian philosophical thought. In the history of philosophical knowledge, the family, family values and related legal relations have always been in the focus of scientific attention, while they were considered ontologically, axiologically and were inextricably linked with the philosophy of love. Based on the identified works, the article highlights approaches in the history of philosophical thought in relation to family and marriage. Special attention is paid to the woman as the keeper of the family hearth. A woman has a strong trait that embodies divine harmony, as noted by V. V. Rozanov, V. S. Solovyov. P. E. Astafiev, N. F. Fedorov. Based on the work of researchers, the transformation of value categories and their impact on the development of the family is analyzed. In a historical retrospective, the problems of family values in the Soviet and post-Soviet periods are revealed.
