The article analyzes the development of the problem of studying the ideas of a person about his physical self, analyzes the main components of the image of the self. The author defines the tasks of empirical research, provides methods for collecting and processing the results of empirical data, presents the main stages of the study; the results of the study of gender representations of the individual about his I-physical are described.
