The article discusses the problems of networking in the context of its formation, development and manifestation. The structure of networking as a process was investigated and the features inherent in an individual at various stages of participation in this type of communication activity were analysed. The author considers the existing system of classification of networking by types and types and proposes an original classification of networking by levels of development. The study examines three levels of networking: the level of efficiency (establishing and expanding a network of connections without a strict system, improving communication skills), the level of strategy (purposeful and conscious formation of a network of contacts in accordance with the goals) and the level of philosophy (considering networking as a way of life, deep awareness of the value of human communication, systematic improvement of one's environment and sustainable strengthening of internal and external relations). When differentiating networking on three levels, the characteristic features for each level are defined, describing the behaviour, mental orientation and value orientations of the subject of networking, the features of his interaction with other participants in the communication process. The classification presented in the study expands the system of knowledge about networking, gives a deeper understanding of this concept as a process of human communication activity.
