In this article, the author examines the images on the banknotes of the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China of the late XX- early XXI centuries and their cultural and historical significance. In addition, the specifics of the use of symbols reflecting historically important signs and images on the currencies of both countries, as well as their significance in the context of reflecting national identity, are determined. This work also reflects a brief historical digression in the field of money design and changing images on them. The aim of the article is to study the specifics of the use of symbols of historical and cultural heritage on modern banknotes of China and Russia. The object of the work is the banknotes of both countries, and the symbols depicted on them are the subject.
