The fundamental reasons that determine the nature of the development of the systemic crisis of modern technogenic civilization are considered. The authors proceed from the presence of a genetic connection between this type of civilization and capitalist market production, which has as its main goal the dissatisfaction of the basic needs of people, and the constant growth of profits. An appeal to empirical facts made it possible to discover the main roots of the systemic crisis of technogenic civilization in that, taking into account the current state of Nature, the installation of this civilization on it exclusively as a source of raw materials and profit growth has completely and irreversibly exhausted itself.
Keywords:technogenic civilization, scientific rationalism, rotational consumption, social action
