The article examines the correlation between the characteristics of disturbance in the perception of body image among people with various forms of eating disorders (EDs) (anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge-eating disorder). A review of theoretical literature on the research problem is presented, which confirms the relevance of the topic in view of people’s growing number with eating disorders. The article contains the results of a university-based experimental study, which presents a comparison of personal data (body image questionnaire) of people with eating disorders and people without diagnosed problems. The results obtained allow us to conclude that all persons with eating disorders have distortions in body image associated with its inadequate perception, incl. discrepancy between actual weight and body mass index (BMI), with the level of eating disorders playing an important role. It has been noted that individuals in recovery have a lower degree of negative body image perception.
