The study reveals the problem of the relationship between the universal (global) and the unique (local) through the cultural dimension of physical and imaginary spaces. As a result, based on the analysis of the works of Otto von Bollnow, depicting space as the perceptual basis of the relationship between man and the environment; the concept of “placelessness” of the modern inhabitant from Edward Relf and the construct of “groundlessness” proposed by Vilém Flusser; narratives of spatial behavior of modern man by Zygmunt Bauman; appeals to “unique existence” from Walter Benjamin and Jean-Luc Nancy, we can say that the value of “place” as a field of culture and a fact of habitability returns to the need to talk about it as the only condition for returning the previous conditions of existence.
