The article deals with the issues, reflecting the specificity of professional work of teachers of additional education, implementing the artistic orientation in secondary comprehensive schools. The questions connected with evaluation of professional effectiveness and empathy of teachers of additional education in art direction are considered. The degree of empathy expressed by teachers of additional education in art, which are at different stages of their professional development and have different levels of professional effectiveness is determined
