DYNAMICS OF ATTITUDES AND MOTIVATIONS TO CHANGE SUBSTANCE-RELATED BEHAVIOUR IN PATIENTS IN MEDICAL REHABILITATION

The article presents the results of an empirical study of drug treatment patients at the initial stage and after medical rehabilitation. The characteristics of psycho-emotional state, semiotic orientations and motivation to change behaviour in relation to substances in patients who underwent rehabilitation in the mode of day hospital and in the conditions of outpatient visit, voluntarily and by court order were compared. Psycho-emotional state was found to be associated with motivation to change substance use behaviour and acceptance of help. The dynamics of sense-life orientations and the increase of life meaningfulness of patients were noted, the most positive changes were observed in patients who underwent medical rehabilitation in the day care hospital and by court order. No such changes were observed in patients who received medical rehabilitation on an outpatient basis.
