In this work, the author examines the ideas of the American philosopher D. Davidson about thinking, communication and speech behavior in the context of modern interpretation theory. Taking into account the pragmatics of philosophy, the expediency of studying interpretation to solve the fundamental problem of understanding is justified. The works of classics and modern authors relevant to the stated topic are analyzed. The necessary methodological clarifications and explanations for the presented opinions are provided. The connections between thinking and speech are represented. The influence of thinking on communication and making choices in life situations is demonstrated. The applications of D. Davidson's theory to various lines of behavior of a subject in society are specified. In conclusion, the author summarizes the results of the study.
