STUDYING THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF FAMILIES RAISING DISABLED CHILDREN: A REVIEW OF MODERN FOREIGN RESEARCH

The authors of the article address the problem of the quality of life of families raising disabled children. The purpose of the article is to present and analyze the positions of modern foreign (american and european) researchers studying the quality of life of families raising children with disabilities. The significant increase in the number of studies in this area in the last decade allows us to solve an important problem in the study of childhood disability, namely the implementation of an integrated theoretical and methodological approach aimed at revealing the perspectives and experiences of children with disabilities in relation to the quality of their lives and inclusion, including the points of view of parents and other key stakeholders would provide a better understanding of how key actors in children's lives place meaning on the child's quality of life and participation and how this relates to how children perceive their own life situations. Large-scale survey studies allow results to be compared on structural variables relevant to policy and practice, such as resource allocation. Comparisons with children without disabilities have been a significant and valuable part of the research conducted, especially with regard to child self-reported data. Comparison of the responses of children and their parents, as well as comparison with a group of children who are not disabled, helps to highlight contradictions and pay due attention to methodological and conceptual problems when planning quality of life studies, which can contribute to increasing the reflexivity of practitioners organizing and providing assistance to children. disabled people and their families.
