The article presents the results of research activities, the relevance of which is beyond doubt in view of the unresolved nature of the entire spectrum of problematic issues in the psychological and social adaptation of primary school children with visual impairment. The aim of the study was to establish the nature of the influence of physical culture and recreation activities on the psychological and social adaptation of younger schoolchildren with visual impairments. The goal was achieved through empirical research methods, which, along with the theoretical justification of the problem, ensured the adequacy of the algorithm of the pedagogical experiment and the reliability of its results. The experimental activity was carried out on the basis of two special educational institutions for one month with repeated diagnosis, implemented using the Vineland scale of adaptive behavior and analysis of variance (ANOVA) in the areas of adaptive behavior, communication, daily life skills and socialization. The adequate purpose of the study and the use of experimental tools allowed us to testify to the reliability of the results obtained and the recognition of the important role of physical education and recreation activities in the lives of younger schoolchildren with visual impairment. The obtained results can become a starting point in subsequent studies detailing the process of organizing physical education and recreation activities with primary school-age children with visual impairments in elementary school.
