The principle of common grounds is a particular expression of the fundamental methodological principle of the material unity of the world. It underlies the analysis of the essence of the disease. It is concluded that one common biological process underlies both normal and pathological phenomena. Adaptive mechanisms form all physiological and pathological processes in a living organism, that is, all biological processes. Health and illness are two sides of adaptation.
