TRADITIONAL FOOD IN MATCHMAKING RITUALS OF ALTAIC PEOPLE IN THE EARLY XXI CENTURY

The article deals with the food traditions of the Altai people in the custom of matchmaking. Actually, the Altai marriage ceremony consists of matchmaking, preparation for the wedding, wedding celebration and post-wedding period. The results of matchmaking determine whether the wedding will take place at all, when and where the wedding festivities will take place. During the matchmaking, the two marrying families treat each other to traditional dishes consisting of dairy, meat and vegetable products. At the beginning of the XXI century the traditions of marriage ceremony and preparation of traditional dishes are widely known in the Altai culture.
