The article examines the problem of the development of jazz in Great Britain, France and Germany, emphasizing both common and distinctive features. The main factor contributing to the spread of jazz in Europe is the question of the attitude towards African-American musicians, who were carriers of jazz culture and influenced the formation of European jazz styles. The conclusion is drawn about the formation of European jazz as an independent phenomenon of modern culture and the importance of the formation of national jazz schools.
