CORRELATING FACTORS BETWEEN BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER AND COMPLEX POSTTRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER

Isagulova Elena Yurievna  (Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Director Non-State Medical Institution "Clinical Center for Mental Health" )

The article highlights an analytical review of the current literature devoted to the problem of identifying correlating factors between borderline personality disorder and complex posttraumatic stress disorder. The main symptoms characteristic of PDP and cPTSD are disclosed: emotional dysregulation, relationship difficulties, impulsivity, addictions, and autoaggressive behavior, as well as identity disorders, dissociation, and trauma history. It is clarified that borderline personality disorder and posttraumatic stress disorder are relatively different in terms of precise qualitative definitions of their diagnostic features, but nevertheless have significant potential overlap in their symptom criteria. To determine whether there is a temporal sequence in the onset and progression of disorders and under what conditions, prospective studies with repeated assessments of the symptoms of disorders will be required.

Keywords:borderline personality disorder, complex posttraumatic stress disorder, psychotrauma, personality disorder, emotional dysregulation
