WORKING IN PIANO CLASS ON ORCHESTRAL TIMBRES IN PIANO TEXTURE

The article is devoted to the peculiarities of working on orchestral thinking in the piano class. As an example, O. Respighi's piano transcription «Ancient dances and songs of the XVI-XVII centuries» is analyzed. The paper provides a brief analysis of each of the six parts of the cycle. Attention is focused on the peculiarities of the embodiment of timbres and playing techniques of ancient instruments in the piano texture. Another important task for a pianist when working on transcription is to convey the orchestral flavor.
