The article deals with the role of small groups in the formation of the emotional-regulatory component of professional identity of psychology students. Modern researches of emotional regulation in psychology students are analyzed, the main problems in the development of their emotional competence are revealed. Special attention is paid to the mechanisms of influence of group dynamics on the development of the ability to emotional self-regulation. The analysis of various strategies of emotional regulation and their influence on the professional development of future psychologists is presented. The effectiveness of using small groups as an educational format that promotes the development of more mature ways of emotional regulation through direct experience and reflection is substantiated. It is shown that work in small groups creates conditions for the formation of adequate professional competences in the field of emotional regulation and contributes to the prevention of professional burnout of future specialists.
