AUTHENTICITY AND ACCURASY AS SUBJECTS OF ATTENTION IN THE THEORY OF RESTORATION

The article attempts to consider the problem of the relationship of the "authentic" site with the rest of the documentary cultural monument after restoration. When comparing the original site and the one restored by the restorer, discussions arise. To the restored sites, which replaced the lost ones, the question arises: how reliable are they? The reasons for the lack of elaboration of the emerging dilemma lie in the absence to date of a separate serious theoretical study devoted to a comprehensive analysis of the results of restoration practice.
