The article presents the results of an empirical study aimed at studying the value bases of choosing a marriage partner among young people. The psychological profiles of values characteristic of students of humanities and technical faculties are identified and described. Modern youth are characterized by an altruistic orientation, they highly appreciate the social activity of their partner, the ability to show emotional and psychotherapeutic support, as well as personal identification. There are differences in the manifestation of the value of security: for students of the humanities, security consists in observing traditions and rules, belonging to a group, including a family; for students of technical faculties, security is formed by creating material security and their development in social roles. When choosing a marriage partner, young people from the humanities and technical faculties are guided by similarities with their own values. It is suggested that the resolution of intrapersonal conflict becomes an urgent topic in the work of a counseling psychologist on relationship issues and the choice of a marriage partner: coordinating an altruistic focus on solving universal human issues with the development of skills for accepting another person in their close environment.
Keywords:student values, family values, the choice of a marriage partner.
