Teaching of Benjamin F. Snegirev about the substantiality of the human soul

The article examines the doctrine of Benjamin A. Snegirev, as set out in his work «On substantionally of the human soul». It is shown that the philosopher relies on the extra-empirical preconditions of scientific knowledge, belonging to the Eastern Christian tradition. Using the method of comparative analysis and logical reasoning, as well as data from empirical experience, he comes to the conclusion that psychology as a positive science can be built solely on the dualistic grounds of theism, related to the notions of a special psychic substance as an amateur beginning manifested in the phenomenon of consciousness.
