The article examines the transition from late romanticism to innovative trends in Western European art of the early twentieth century. The creative researches of rethinking of musical forms in the space of musical art are touched upon through the introduction of evolutionary techniques and techniques of musical writing. The tendency of composers of the twentieth century to retreat from the classical (academic) tradition of composing the music is under research.
