The main directions of cooperation between art museums of Russia in the second half of the XX century: experience and prospects

The article is devoted to the analysis of experience of cooperation of Russian art museums in the second half of the XX century. The purpose of the article is defining the main directions and forms of this cooperation and reviewing the state system of coordination of art museums over this period. The main sources for this study were the documents stored in the archive of The State Russian Museum: correspondence with regional museums, orders of public authorities, plans, reports, proposals of Museum departments. Professional contacts between art museums analyzed on a number of grounds, such as the degree of state control, the scale of activities, the number of participants, the stability of relations. By the totality of these characteristics, three several basic directions can be singled out. The interaction between regional and central museums is represented by the example of the activity of The State Russian Museum as a methodological center. The joint activities of the museums of one region are considered within the framework of the structure of zonal associations. Relations between museums of different regions are considered in the context of implementation of all-Russian programs and joint exhibition projects. The study of the history of the development of professional partnership of art museums of Russia allows to reveal directions and forms that have undergone significant changes in the XXI century, and that have retained relevance in the current situation.
