The article describes the results of a theoretical and empirical study of the peculiarities of the motivational and value preferences of cadets of a military institute. Traditionally, values and motivation are studied as interrelated concepts that ensure successful performance and professional development of an individual. A detailed assessment of the structure of relationships and the determination of dynamic trends in the correlation of values and characteristics of motivation make it possible to reach a new level of understanding of the value-motivational sphere as the basis for the success of the professionalization of a serviceman
