Dysfunctions in relationships between partners of narcissistic and masochistic personality types (by the example of the analysis of modern fantasy)

Dysfunctions in the relationship between partners of narcissistic and masochistic types are caused by the specific features of their personality and traumatic experience of interaction with significant social environment. The article analyzes the works of modern fantasy as the quintessence of the authors' ideas about the development of relations between masochistic women and narcissistic men. The types of relationships in a narcissistic-masochistic couple in female fantasy are highlighted: as a projection of the need of masochistic women to establish maximum dependence on them of a narcissistic partner (the formation of a "true couple"), as a woman's adjustment to the needs of a partner and absorption by him, as a catalyst for the process of achieving personal maturity by a woman (and in some cases a partner– narcissa) through overcoming difficult life situations, as a result of the erroneous projection of a narcissistic man and his choice of a woman of a non-masochistic type with subsequent family conflicts and the desire to subordinate the chosen one. The propensity to perceive women as a means of satisfying their own needs and maintaining a grandiose Self are noted as distinctive characteristics of a male fantasy with a narcissistic hero.
