THE ROLE OF THE LATEST DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES IN THE TRANSFORMATION OF SOCIAL SPACE

The article examines the ambiguous role of information technology in modern society. The authors focus on those factors that lead to structural changes in society. It is shown that the expansion of the communicative opportunities, which is observed in the modern world thanks to digital technologies, has the opposite side. Violation of traditional public relations can provoke potential conflicts in society. Most often, such trends are manifested in relations between representatives of different generations. In addition, the active implementation of digital technologies can aggravate social inequality. The article covers how the latest information technologies provoke social tension. It, in particular, is due to the impossibility of the state to provide all citizens with equal access to information resources. It is shown that the pursuit of efficiency leads to the fact that modern media often sacrifice the truth of information.
