In the article, the author explores the issues of the influence of traditions as meaningful foundations on the formation of spiritual and moral qualities of a cadet of the military Institute of the National Guard troops of the Russian Federation. Based on a survey of a group of cadets, the author draws conclusions about the influence of certain groups of traditions on the orientation and motivation of their activities, special emphasis is placed on the need to take into account the so-called informal traditions of cadet collectives in educational work, attention is drawn to the insufficient influence of religious rituals.
