INTERNAL CONFLICT OF PARENTS ASSOCIATED WITH PERSONAL INCOMPETENCE IN PRESCHOOL CHILD-REARING ISSUES

This article, based on the author's defended master's dissertation, explores parenthood as a socio-psychological phenomenon, delving into its structure, objectives, and the parameters of adult-child interactions within the context of family relationships. The concept of a competent parent is defined, and the spectrum of competencies inherent in parenting is analyzed. The study unfolds the essence and peculiarities of the internal conflict experienced by parents, along with the stress they undergo while fulfilling their responsibilities. The article concludes that there is an utmost importance in enhancing literacy in parenting matters, as well as the ability to recognize the individual needs of the child. The methodology for conducting empirical research on the internal conflict of parents, linked to personal incompetence in the upbringing of preschool children, is described. The findings indicate that parents of preschoolers with a specialized psychological and pedagogical education exhibit a lower level of parental stress. This is attributed to their significantly higher degree of adequacy in self-perception as parents. As the level of parental stress is inversely correlated with the satisfaction level in the parental role, it is inferred that higher parental competence in upbringing and interacting with the child corresponds to greater satisfaction in fulfilling the parental role.
