This article examines the issue of the formation of the modern Russian worldview. The role of Orthodox culture in the formation of Russian consciousness is analyzed. As a result, it is concluded that Orthodoxy is the main contender for the role of an existential component of the modern Russian worldview. In the context of the Orthodox tradition, the spiritual occupies a dominant position in the hierarchy of personality, and must subordinate the mental and bodily spheres to itself. In addition to the above, the article also focuses on issues related to the problem of interaction between science and religion, and suggests ways to include the symbolic structure of traditional cultural and religious knowledge in the educational process.

Keywords:Worldview, Orthodoxy, culture, existence, education, value, morality.
