The object of the study is the content of A.L. Chizhevsky's ideas about human evolution reflected in philosophical works "The main beginning of the universe. Space system. Problems " and "Electronic theory and the genesis of forms. Problem ", the subject is constituted by the peculiarities of the corresponding ideas in connection with the discussion between representatives of evolutionism and creationism. Particular attention is paid to the question of the compatibility of the scientist's views on the evolutionary development of Homo sapiens with theistic evolutionism, process theology, Young Earth and Old Earth creationism, the movement of intelligent design and alterism, as well as the meanings and connotations that the views of A.L. Chizhevsky acquire in the context of these approaches. The study helps clarify the question of how scientific and religious pictures of the world relate in Russian cosmism; in the future, such an explication will determine the ideological foundations for a fruitful dialogue between science and religion.
When writing the work, the following methods were used: analysis of text sources (including 1703 fund's manuscripts of the Archive of the Academy of Sciences of the Russian Federation), comparative analysis, analysis, synthesis, generalization, induction and deduction, historical method.
The scientific novelty of the article is constituted by the study of the ideas of A.L. Chizhevsky about human evolution in connection with theistic evolutionism, process theology, Young Earth and Old Earth creationism, the movement of intelligent design and alterism.
An analysis of the scientist's views about the evolution of the species Homo sapiens in the context of the polemic of evolutionism and creationism allows us to draw the following conclusions, which in our opinion can contribute to a fruitful dialogue between representatives of the scientific and religious communities:
1) in the best way the ideas of A.L. Chizhevsky about the development of mankind are combined with the position of theistic evolutionism: in this case, we do not have a contradiction between the scientific and philosophical approach and the religious worldview, but the addition of the first with the second;
2) a similar result testifies against the cultural myth about the incompatibility of science and religion.
