Closed society and tyranny

Erokhina Elena Anatolyevna  (Doctor of Economics, Professor, Tomsk state pedagogical University)

Markova Anna Vladimirovna  (candidate of economic Sciences, associate Professor, Tomsk state pedagogical University)

the article: deals with the essence, background, process of formation and features of a closed society, as well as its political system. The closeness of a society means closeness to one, several or many types of its environment. Accordingly, the degree of closure changes. The desire to achieve autarky can be both the root cause of the "closure" of society, and the result of the actions of other States (sanctions, cold war, and the like). The desire to achieve autarchy concerns all aspects of society: economic, political, cultural, ideological. The result of the attainment of self-sufficiency is the aggressiveness of the external and (or) internal policies, as a closed society cannot obtain the necessary resources in a civilized manner. Once closed, society loses the possibility of self-organization and, as a rule, becomes organized by the state. Closed societies with their political system have either authoritarianism or (more often) tyranny. The organization of a closed society by the state makes possible the complete or partial monopolization of all aspects of public life, including political and economic, and it, in turn, leads to bureaucracy, which is expressed in the fact that bureaucracy substitutes its functions with the goals of bureaucrats.

Keywords:closed society, autarchy, tyranny, totalitarianism, authoritarianism, Plato.
