This article discusses folk traditions in the family as a means of harmonizing interethnic relations. The article provides an analysis of the views of researchers on the problem under study. The paper reveals the types of folk traditions in the family. The author notes that the family is one of the main institutions of socialization of the younger generations. In this regard, it seems relevant to determine the role of the family in solving the educational problems of modern society, understanding its place and role in the system of socialization of the individual. The study determined that, thanks to the traditions in the family, good relationships are formed between parents and children, which contributes to a good emotional state of the child, his sociability and communication skills. The idea is substantiated that the pedagogical potential of folk art becomes the engine of the mechanisms of not only the moral development of the individual, but also influences the harmonization of interethnic relations. At the same time, the author comes to the conclusion that, recognizing the role of folk art culture, one cannot fail to notice that the problem of harmonizing interethnic relations by means of family traditions remains little studied. The author believes that it is necessary to take into account the variety of forms, methods and means of socialization of the child, the place of the family and family traditions in the construction and selection of educational programs in schools, their study and implementation in practice.
