The purpose of the article is to show the role of women in Christian culture from the point of view of Christian ethics. In the biblical tradition, the original duality of a person is set: he is separately represented by the male and female halves, while in their combination a «complete» person is visible. However, the judgments of some pillars of Western Christianity are still supported, one way or another blaming the entire female race for the fall into sin and the subsequent moral vices of a woman. Moreover, in Christian culture, a woman takes on the appearance of a dual being: Eve (the personification of evil, responsible for the fall) and Mary (the personification of purity, eternal femininity). Particular attention is paid to moral traits as an integral characteristic of the Old Testament and New Testament female images. Israel, according to theologians, was the first to be taught to look at the mother's heart as the likeness of the heart of God. This and much more does not take into account feminism. «Neo-feminism» is characterized by an indication that the «secondary», «serving», dependent position of a woman is affirmed in the religious sphere. In assessing the role and position of a woman in society, Christianity focuses on the «inner man», and does not judge a woman and a man by purely external qualities, initially giving preference to one of them, and placing the other in a dependent or humiliating position.
