Socio-economic situation the indigenous population of Gorny Altai under the conditions of «war communism» (late 1919 - early 1921)

The article is devoted to the consideration of economic processes among the indigenous population of Gorny Altai – the Altaians – during implementation of the policy of «war communism». Given the achievements of historiography, and based on unpublished archival sources, shows policy of the requisition of food surplus in Gorny Altai, its influence on the economic processes in the national village. Particular attention is paid to the state of livestock, which was a basic element in the structure of the economy of the altai ethnos. The conclusion is made on the reduction of livestock in national farms due to forced seizures, livestock deaths, termination of turnover with rural areas that produce grain.
