Li Kenong – «the great spy» of CCP

The history of the special services of the People’s Republic of China is a significant but largely unexplored stratum of modern historical science. In contemporary China special agencies along with the army play a key role in protecting the state security. The experience gained over a long historical period remains in demand, multiplies and successfully uses to protect national interests. The article presented by the author devotes life the first head of the intelligence agency of the People’s Republic of China Li Kenong (1899-1962). On the basis of original Chinese-language materials traces the main points of his biography, personal and business skills, studies his relations with people around and analyzes the contribution to the creation of a New China.
