The article describes the features of functioning of the lexeme «Brexit» in modern media discourse of Great Britain. The main purpose of the research is to study the genesis of the lexeme «Brexit» in English media discourse. Moreover, its word formative potential and features of its functioning in the languagege are reviewed.
