The distinctive features of phraseological semantics (by the example of idioms of intellectual field)

The article is devoted to the study of semantics of phraseological units, or idioms. Phraseological meaning is a special phenomenon, which is explained by the complexity of the structure of phraseological units, and their metaphoric character. The phraseological meaning differs from the lexical one and is manifested in the diffusive nature of the semantic component, and the special role of the evaluative and connotative components of the phraseological meaning. In the article, the features of phraseological semantics are examined by the example of phraseological units of the intellectual field.
