The concept "understand" in Russian and English phraseological picture of the world

The article is devoted to the description of the concept "understand" in Russian and English phraseological pictures of the world. The semantic content of Russian and English phraseological units, or idioms, with meaning "to understand" is analyzed. The main semantic areas of the concept are singled out and discussed in detail. Examples from fiction are given that illustrate the features of semantics and the use of idioms, representing the concept.
