The paper deals with the exploration of the notion of “loan word” due to the increasing attention on the part of researchers specializing in linguistics and terminology aimed at more in-depth and comprehensive study of the word formation specificity of German medical terminology. The article emphasizes the necessity in the analysis of modern tendencies in word formation of loan words from the English language. It contributes to the research of the main word-formation types of Anglicisms in the German medical discourse.
